The headlamps do not seem toprovide enough light for clear nightvision." The headlamp beams are pointedsubstantially away from a slightlydown and to the right position.Aiming the headlampsYour vehicle is equipped with aVehicle Headlamp Aim Device(VHAD) oneach headlamp body.Each headlamp may be properlyaimed inthe horizontal direction(left/right) and the verticaldirection (up/down).Turning theheadlamp adjusting screws in thedirectionshownby the embossedarrow markings on each headlampbody represents a change in aimdirectioneither inthe left/right orup/down directions, depending onwhether you are adjusting thehorizontal or the vertical screw,respectively.A non zero bubble reading does notnecessarily indicate out of aimheadlamps.If your vehicle is notpositioned on a level surface, theslope will be included in the levelindicator.Therefore, verticalheadlamp adjustment should beperformed only when beamdirectionappears to be incorrect.220 Maintenance and careCAUTION: THE VERTICAL AIMMUST BE ADJUSTED FIRST.You will need a 6 mm Allen wrenchor a Phillips screwdriver.If the vehicle has been in anaccident, the vehicle's frontstructure should be properlyaligned before aiming theheadlamp.Adjusting the vertical aim1.Park the vehicle on a levelsurface.2.The vertical indicator is locatedon top of the headlamp assembly;the adjusting screw is locatedbehind the headlamp assembly.3.Turn the vertical adjusting screwuntil the bubble aligns with the 0"reference mark when viewed fromdirectly above.The 0" referencemark is the middle of the three (3)bold graduation marks.221 Maintenance and careAdjusting the horizontal aimCAUTION: Do not adjust thehorizontal aim until after adjustingthe vertical aim.1.Parkthe vehicle on a levelsurface.2.The horizontal indicator and theadjusting screw are located behindthe headlamp assembly.3.Turn the horizontal adjustingscrew until the indicator in the vialaligns with the 0" markon theplastic slide located on theindicator housing (vial).When the horizontal and verticalindicators are set to the 0" mark,the headlamp has been properlyaimed.222 Maintenance and careVEHICLE CAREWashing your vehicleOnly use car washing areasthat have environmentallyfriendly drainage systems.Wash your vehicle regularly withcold or lukewarm water.Never usestrong detergents or soap.If yourvehicle is particularly dirty, use aquality car wash detergent.Alwaysuse a clean sponge, washing gloveor similar device and plenty ofwater for best results.To avoidspots, avoid washing when thehood is still warm, immediatelyafter or during exposure to strongsunlight.223 Maintenance and careDuring winter months, it isespecially important to wash thevehicle on a regular basis.Largequantities of dirt and road salt aredifficult to remove, and they alsocause damage to the vehicle.Remove or lower any exterioraccessories before entering a carwash.Remove particles such as birddroppings, tree sap, insect remains,tar spots, road salt and industrialfallout immediately.After washing, apply the brakesseveral times to dry them.Waxing your vehicleThe best way to determine whenthe paintwork needs waxing is bynoting when water stops beadingon the surface.This could be everythree or four months depending onoperating conditions.Use only carnauba orsynthetic based waxes.Removeany bugs and tar before waxing thevehicle.Use cleaning fluid oralcohol with a clean cloth toremove bugs.Use tar remover toremove any tar spots.224 Maintenance and careRepairing paint chipsMinor scratches or paint damagefrom road debris may be repairedwith touch up paint, paint repairfoil or aerosol spray from the Fordaccessories line.Observe theapplication instructions on theproducts [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
